Daniel Castillo is the Chief Medical Officer at Matrix Medical Network, a national network of clinicians who engage with patients in their homes as well as community-based clinics and mobile offices. Dr. Castillo is an experienced healthcare leader with expertise in system design, integrated delivery, measurement and competitive strategy for physician services and population health optimization. Dr. Castillo has a strong track record of cultivating innovation, optimizing patient care services and facilitating integration to excel in a changing healthcare environment.

Dr. Castillo is the former CEO of WiserCare. Before joining WiserCare, Dr. Castillo served as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Quality Officer for Evolution Health, Envision Healthcare’s population health division. In his role at Evolution Health, he was responsible for business development, marketing, risk and value-based contracting. Additionally, he led Evolution Health’s performance improvement and statistical analysis, clinical informatics and national strategy focused on quality, measurement and outcomes of experience, effectiveness and efficiency in care delivery. As part of Envision Healthcare, Dr. Castillo served as the principal executive leading participation in the CMMI Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative.

Prior to Evolution Health, Dr. Castillo served as National Medical Director for Healthcare Quality Evaluation at the Joint Commission, where he led product development including national standards, performance metrics and research that focused on innovative approaches for value-based healthcare. Among several programs, Dr. Castillo drove development of standards for Integrated Delivery System certification. He has partnered to lead hospitals, health systems, payors and providers in quality improvement, safety, certification and accreditation, and to improve systems of provider credentialing and privileging. His experience spans primary care, perinatal care, advanced imaging, stroke systems of care, palliative care and hospice, home care and infusion therapy.

He is an honors graduate of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Castillo completed his emergency medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and has previously served as Director and Chair of the Quality Committee while practicing emergency medicine in the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Illinois. He is a respected speaker and author, serving on multiple national boards and policy committees for healthcare organizations.  He continues to practice clinically at NorthShore.
